There are three main types of Spartan Races, a Sprint (5km+), a Super (12km+) and a Beast (22km+); they are designed to cater for all fitness levels. For beginners we recommend the Sprint. It may be the shortest race distance, but it's still a firm favourite for our new racers. With 20+ obstacles over at least 5km, every Sprint race is different and has its own character and unique challenges. An average racer takes around 2 hours 40 minutes to complete a Sprint, which highlights that this is a great challenge.
The Sprint distance is perfect for those looking to start their Spartan journey and allows returning racers a managebale distance to see how much they've improved. You can complete the course at your own pace and can choose to run in 3 types of heats: elite, competitive and open.

South East, 7 & 8 April Our 2018 Spartan season kicks off in April at St Clere, South East of London. Rich in history, St Clere is only 40 minutes by train from central London and within sight of the M25. It promises to please weekend warriors, trail hunters and obstacle racers alike. Situated on the scenic North Downs and known for its rolling hills – this beautiful yet challenging course will be host to Sprint and Junior distances. Plus, new for 2018, we’ve added a Super to give racers more opportunity to go for the hallowed Trifecta!
Ireland, 27 May For the first time ever, Spartan Race UK are heading overseas! That’s right, we’re off to the Emerald Isle to race at Ireland’s most famous racecourse, Punchestown. Located near the county town of Naas, the ‘Meeting Place of the Kings’ which will for one weekend only, be transformed into ‘The Meeting Place of the Spartans’! Run the Sprint (5km+) and Super (13km+) to be amongst the first to complete the Spartan challenge in a new territory.
South West, 22, 23 & 24 June We return to Aston Down Airfield with an expanded race offering. Prepare for a relentless barrage of short and steep inclines alongside the traditional crawls, climbs and carries that make Spartan Race such a unique obstacle race. If you love running up hills you will want to be here at Aston Down, to experience what our 'insiders' term ""Hell Valley"". A Sprint, Super, and Hurricane Heats are all on offer. And if you came last year, be prepared for some extra surprises to keep you on your toes.
Marston Lodge, 13, 14 & 15 July An endurance weekend awaits at Marston Lodge - the home of Spartan Race UK. Scotland, 15 & 16 September Our brand new Scottish venue sees Spartan Race come to the ancient and magnificent city of Perth. The race will offer a start in the very centre of the city. So, for the first time ever in the UK, Spartan Race runners will have the chance to run along crowd-lined streets, before heading out onto the hilly trails. Throw in our famously innovative obstacles and we have an event that will test mental strength, endurance, grit and perseverance. With a Sprint (5km+), Super (13km+), Beast (20km+) and an epic Ultra (42km+) there really is something for all levels of athlete.
Windsor, 6 & 7 October Spartan Race rounds out the 2018 season in the UK with a Trifecta Weekend to remember. Steeped in history and just south of London, this is our most popular race venue.
